Electrical Safety Officer

Albarell Electric Inc. is accepting applications for the position of Electrical Safety Officer for our Lehigh Valley and Greater Philadelphia locations. This is a full-time position, reporting to the President of the Safety Committee. The Safety Officer will serve to ensure that safety training, compliance and all Albarell Electric Inc. safety initiatives are being met. Additionally, the Safety Officer will conduct and oversee all company safety training and serve as the on-call safety contact for any safety issues or accidents that arise in the field. The Safety Officer will act as a liaison between the field personnel and the office and will communicate all findings to management, field supervisors and required third parties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular construction site inspections, identify and corrects issue as they arise
  • Identify equipment and/or tools that are unsafe and recommend corrective action
  • Perform regular safety audits of jobsites and implement safety procedures.
  • Preform safety walks and regular job site inspections to proactively identify corrective actions and training needs.
  • Ensure that all relevant safety supplies, equipment, PPE, safety postings and related materials are available and properly displayed on job sites.
  • Develop, maintains and improves safety related standard operating procedures, systems and processes to improve results and ensure compliance with, state and federal recordkeeping requirements.
  • Prepares and delivers scheduled safety training as outlined by the Safety and Training Committees.
  • Collaborates with the Safety Committee and the Management Team on safety changes and improvements.
  • Consistently communicate the corporate vision for safety and ensure that employees are aligned with the corporate safety culture.
  • Participates in industry association groups, engages in community events and activities and works with state level OSHA partners.

Key Qualifications:

  • OSHA 500 Certification in Construction
  • Consummate understanding of electrical industry consensus standards such as NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NESC, ASTM, and ANSI
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in construction and/or industrial/manufacturing environments
  • Extensive knowledge of construction, electrical and industrial hazards
  • Prior experience with Federal and State OSHA regulations and safety related initiatives
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Possess strong communications skills and is comfortable in an instructional / classroom environment.
  • Experience with a Union workforce desired
  • Strong work ethic, organizational and follow-up skills
  • Willing to travel to job sites within the greater Lehigh Valley and Philadelphia areas.

General Information:

  • Standing, walking, sitting, climbing, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted in both indoor office settings, and outdoor construction jobsite settings. Environmental conditions will vary.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasional work at heights and in confined space.
  • Occasional travel in excess of 50 miles may be required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2 or 4 year college degree desired, preferably in environmental health and safety discipline.
  • Minimum 5+ years in construction safety management (electrical safety experience preferred).
  • OSHA 500 Construction required
  • Consummate understanding of electrical industry consensus standards such as NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NESC, ASTM, and ANSI
  • Experience with union workforce desired
  • CPR/FA (Trainer Preferred)
  • Ability to work independently, strong communication skills with ability to influence behaviors
  • Experience in managing other safety coordinators
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Safety certification is desired.
  • Experience in claims management a plus (CCIP/OCIP/general insurance claims)
  • Valid Pennsylvania Drivers’ License.
